Sunburn & Leaf Scorch
Bleached, papery patches or dark, crisp burns usually appear on leaves suddenly exposed to more direct sun than they’re adapted to.
Common causes
Sudden move into direct sun
Leaves that developed in low or indirect light lack the protective adaptations for strong sun and scorch quickly. Introduce brighter spots gradually over a week or two.
Magnified light through glass
A window can intensify sunlight, especially at midday. Filter it with a sheer curtain or move the plant slightly back from the glass.
Water droplets on leaves in sun
Droplets left on foliage can act like tiny lenses under bright light, causing localised burn spots. Water at the soil and avoid misting right before sun exposure.
